What about AI?

You’ll no doubt have heard of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and claims that it can write and translate. It can – in its own way – although, as a machine, what it really does is regurgitate bits of language it has pulled from all over the internet, with no regard for facts, accuracy or style. Wine

I love wine. There’s something fascinating about a drink so closely linked to the culture and character of each area where it’s made. As well as enjoying a glass or two, I’ve backed up my interest with WSET 3 qualifications and lots of work related to wine.

I’ve been fascinated by other cultures ever since I started learning my first foreign language – French – when I was at school. That interest was enhanced when I moved to Catalonia 25 years ago and started learning Catalan and Spanish.

I've been passionate about history since I was a child and I studied the subject at university in Bristol, England. I still love visiting heritage sites and museums and I now specialise in cultural tourism as a translator. Now I blog about it too.

Journalism

I began my working life as a journalist and I spent 15 years in newspapers in the UK. It taught me how to research, write, edit and organise my work. I wouldn’t be the professional I am today without that background. I still write journalistic pieces too.

Football

I went to my first football match when I was seven and I'm passionate about the sport, going to games and following my beloved Ipswich Town from afar. I've done a lot of translations involving football, including a set of books for FC Barcelona.

I’ve loved music since I was a teenager and I get to concerts by my favourite artists whenever I can. I’ve also worked on many translations about music, not to mention the book I wrote about the Catalan cellist who played with the Beatles!
